Stave Skiing
Wine barrel turns into skis
Be part of an age old Swiss tradition: The revival of stave skiing is not only for the seasoned skier but ideal and great fun for beginners.
The staves from the old wine barrels are - even today - modified manually into skis by skilled carpenters. Our stave skiing experts will introduce you to the art of turning through the bends on the planks with style.
The marked training run isn’t about speed but much more about skills. We are happy to organise a fun race for your team as a culmination to the day. Alternatively we can give you an introduction into deep snow skiing.
Health & Safety and Equipment
Stave skis are relatively short which minimises the risk of injury. In addition to this steep sections are avoided entirely and the runs are adjusted to the group’s skills.
For this special day out the participants are advised to wear one of the following: hiking boots, army boots or snow board boots. Trainers or ski boots are unsuitable for this activity.
