Wood Carving in Picturesque Toggenburg
The old art of wood carving
Once a craft exercised by many there are now only a handful of coopers left in this region that could be called masters of wood carving.
Get introduced to the art of wood carving, instructed by the master himself you create a butter- or chopping board with your personal ornaments. This peace of art will be yours to take home, a lasting souvenir for such a memorable day out.
Cooking on the farm
In the farm's kitchen the lovely and very welcoming lady of the house prepares a 3-course meal with the teams. You will be choosing from a range of delicious typical Swiss dishes, among it the well-known "Röschti". After a day in the workshop this hearty food will be even more appreciated.
In order for all participants to get their hands both on the carving tools and the cooking pots the teams will alternate between the kitchen and the workshop. Apart from the invaluable benefit of lifting the team spirit, both wood carving and cooking are tremendous fun.
The coopers wouldn't be able to make ends meet just from their skilful craft which is why their trade is often linked to a farm. Proud of his farm he loves to show his guests around and over a cosy glass of wine you just might hear an interesting tale or two about his trade and this fascinating region.
